New York, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team scored the game's first goal but Bryn Athyn quickly responded with the tying and go-ahead tallies late in the first half as the Bloodhounds dropped a 2-1 decision to the Lions on Saturday afternoon.

The Bloodhounds gained the early advantage as sophomore Justin Gharbin outran his defender en route to beating Bryn's Troy Billingslea to give John Jay the early 1-0 advantage.

For the Brooklyn, NY native, it marked the first goal of the season and third of his John Jay career.

The Lions wasted little time in finding the tying score. The visitors attempted three straight corners before Tim Ragan booted on past Tyler Solis to even the match at 1-1.

The Bloodhounds had two chances to broke the tie. Kevin Cantos sent one that veered over the goal in the 21' while Kevin Luciano's attempt was denied by Billingslea.

In the 33rd, Hans Merilan dribbled along the left side and pelted one on target, but Billingslea was able to make the save. With five minutes left before intermission, Merilan had another opportunity, as Michael Fernandez sent the ball into the box but Merilan's chance was directed wide of the target.

The visitors found the equalizer in the 42' as Aaron Clark was able beat Solis to the left, giving the Lions a 2-1 edge.

When play resumed for the second half, John Jay dominated the possession, as the Bloodhounds took 17 shots in the frame.

With ten minutes left to play in the match, Lamarana Diallo was able to soar up and head the ball just left of the target.

With seconds left to play, Bryn Athyn's Cevin Spencer was carded, setting up a free-kick opportunity for the Bloodhounds. Jonathan Granados stepped up and launch the ball to the right of the net as Billingslea was there to make the stop.
