Women's Soccer Notches Second Straight Shutout Over York On Saturday Afternoon

Brooklyn, NY - For the second straight contest, the defending CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) champions, the John Jay women's soccer team, posted a clean sheet, as the Bloodhounds blanked York, 8-0, on Saturday at Aviator Field #2 in Brooklyn, NY.
 
With the win, the Bloodhounds even their record at 5-5-0 and move to 2-1-0 in the conference while the Cardinals falter to 0-7-0; 0-2-0 in league action.  
 
John Jay struck first as Catarina Johnson found the back of the net off the feed from Sierra Dazhan, giving the visitors an early 1-0 advantage. 
 
Three minutes later, the Bloodhounds netted their second goal of the match, this one coming off the foot of Emma Fisher
 
The Bloodhounds continued to test Naomi Alejandra Rodriguez in net as Zoe Specht converted on her fourth goal of the season.
 
Morgan DeGlopper recorded the first of her two goals in this one in the 36' as Sofia Astarbi was able to locate DeGlopper, who pushed one past Rodriguez for the four-goal lead. 
 
John Jay wasted little time in getting more scores as Jerlynn Castillo made the most of her chance, best the York keeper that extended the lead. 
 
Just before the halftime horn sounded, Tarah Kennedy netted her first goal of the season and second of her career, which pushed the lead to 6-0. 
 
DeGlopper got her second goal of the match in the 64' minute that made John Jay go ahead by seven before the visitors answered with a goal from Nora O'Connor, her team-leading 13th of the season. 
 
The Bloodhounds will welcome Brooklyn College on Wednesday, October 18 for a 4:00 p.m. first-kick. 
 
Wednesday is Senior Day for John Jay!
