Bloodhounds Women’s Soccer Rings in Senior Day with Rout of Brooklyn

New York, NY - The John Jay women's soccer team filled up the scoresheet on Senior Day as five different players found the back of the next in a 7-0 win over Brooklyn College on Wednesday afternoon.
The home finale result is the second-most goals scored in a game by the Bloodhounds this season after scoring a 16-0 win over Medgar Evers on Oct. 11.
Senior Nora O'Connor did not take long after her senior day recognition to open the scoring. In the eighth minute, Brooke Fontaine steered a ball through the Bulldog backline to O'Connor who beat the keeper one-on-one. She doubled her total in the 15th minute with the helper from Morgan DeGlopper.
In her final home regular season match, Anixo Puildo slotted away her first home goal and second of the season. Puildo found space in the box just into the 21st minute of play after a perfectly placed crossed from Lucia Giangaspero to give John Jay a 3-0 lead.
The Bloodhounds continued to spread the ball around in the final minutes of the first half as Tarah Kennedy floated a ball into the right side of the box and found Sierra Dazhan for her fourth of the season. John Jay hit the halftime break with a 4-0 lead.
After a fiery opening 20 minutes to the second half with a new look lineup, head coach Ajani Clunie began cycling in fresh legs. O'Connor returned to the game in the 68th minute and promptly netted her third of the match after charging down the wing with possession. The goal secured her third hat trick of the season.
With five more shots down, Giangaspero secured her Senior Day tally with a shot from beyond the 18-yard box that rolled past the keeper. She added to her points tally less than a minute later when she set up Mikayla Schoch, who had entered the game just after Giangaspero's goal, to make it a 7-0 lead.
The Bulldogs would not challenge the John Jay back line in the final ten minutes and the Bloodhounds walked away with the 7-0 win.
John Jay keeper Lily Velo recorded just one save on the day.
NEXT UP: The Bloodhounds close out the regular season with a visit to Lehman College in the Bronx on Saturday, Oct. 21. Kickoff for the regular season finale is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
