Three Bloodhounds had double-doubles in their fifth-set setback against the host Wilkes, as Lewis finished with a team-high 14 kills and 10 digs while Reilly Catan had 12 kills and 14 digs.

Smith recorded 31 assists to go along with a team-best 15 digs and two kills. Madison Reyes had eight kills, two blocks while Malia Reyes finished with ten digs in the five sets.

Sierra Hines, Hope Ousey, and Ava Wahlers each had nine kills while Olivia Marsh led the way with 14 digs. Alexa Cassel, Ali Yordy, and Emma Sanford had ten digs.

Rachael Anderson had 20 assist while Cassel had 18 helpers.

First Set - John Jay jumped out to an early 6-2 lead following a pair of aces from Gretener. The two squads traded off points before the Bloodhounds increased their advantage by four, 17-13, on an ace from Taylor Hunt

The Bloodhounds held off a late surge by Wilkes, as the home team trimmed the deficit down to three, 24-21, before a bad set from Cassel gave John Jay the set victory.

Second Set - Both teams were evenly pitted in the second set, trading points for the majority of the match until Wilkes claimed a 15-9 advantage on the attack error from Madison Reyes

Trailing by a 21-11 count, John Jay rallied back with four straight points but Wilkes closed out the set with a 25-17 winner on a ball handling error from Ellmedina Hodzic

Third Set - John Jay struck for the early lead in the third set, as they claimed an 11-5 advantage. A kill from Catan in the later portion of the set kept the visitors ahead by three, 24-21, before Waugaman recorded the kill and gave John Jay a 2-1 lead.

Fourth Set - Wilkes forced a deciding fifth set after steadily building a lead in the fourth set. Wahlers had two straight kills that made it 11-7 before Ousey added their fourth straight kill in doubling up the score to 14-7.

John Jya tried to keep it close, trimming the deficit to 23-17 on a kill from Catan, but a kill from Hines evened the overall match at 2-2.

Fifth Set - In the race to 15, both teams showed that they wanted the match, as John Jay first jumped out to a 7-4 lead. Wilkes responded with four straight points and a 7-1 run overall to take a 11-8 lead, thanks to a kill from Wahlers.

The Bloodhounds tied the set at 11-11 after a kill by Waugaman. Wilkes answered with two straight before a counter strike by the Bloodhounds gave the visitors set-point off the kill from Lewis.

Wilkes continued to fight back, getting it to set point in their favor, but the home squad couldn't seal it on the next possession. Back-to-back kills from Lewis primed John Jay for a split of the tri-match, but Ousey recorded a kill of her, extending the match.

Tied at 19-19, Cassel killed the serve from Malia Reyes and the home team celebrated after an attack error from Catan.

John Jay returns home to the Doghouse on Thursday, October 19, as they will host New Jersey City University (NJCU).

First-serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
