Women's Tennis Falls To Baruch On Tuesday Afternoon

Flushing, NY - The John Jay women's tennis team put forth a valiant effort in their CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) contest against Baruch but fell by a 8-1 count at the US National Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 5-4 on the season and sustained their first conference setback of the season. The Bearcats move to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in league play, securing the 2023 CUNYAC regular-season title in the process.

Coach's Corner | Head Coach David Muchnick: "We're proud of our effort and fight in a tough match against a Baruch squad that entered play undefeated on the season. Our hopes are to take care of business over the next few days to put ourselves in a position to play them again in the CUNYAC finals next Thursday and see what happens. We are back on the courts tomorrow to take on Albertus Magnus in New Haven, CT in another opportunity to learn and improve match-by-match."

The Bloodhound pairing of Antigone Alexander and Dakota Himaya took two points from Ava Deguzman and Esther Benjamin before the Baruch duo sealed the match with an 8-2 winner.

The lone singles victory for John Jay came out of the No. 5 spot, as Gloria Glenn withstood an early 6-3 setback to rally in the match, taking the second set 7-5 and the tiebreaker, 10-8, over Keila Pagan.
