Women's Tennis Remains Undefeated In CUNYAC Play; Blanks Lehman On Monday Afternoon

Flushing, NY - The John Jay women's tennis team earned their fifth win of the 2023 season while remaining undefeated in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, as the Bloodhounds defeated Lehman College, 9-0, on Monday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center. 
 
The Bloodhounds (5-2; 3-0 CUNYAC) raced out to a 3-0 lead after taking each doubles match by a 8-0 count. 
 
In singles play, John Jay only conceded a total of five points as Antigone Alexander earned a straight set triumph over Caroline Lopez at No. 1 as did Sarina Moi at No. 2 and Dakota Himaya at No. 3, all recording 6-0; 6-0 wins. 
 
At No. 4 singles, Cindy Lliguicota defeated Faith Fidele 6-0; 6-1 while Gloria Glenn posted a 6-3; 6-0 victory at No. 5. Rounding out the Bloodhounds performance was Manuela Orrego, who picked up a 6-1; 6-0 win over Avril Vargas. 
 
Coach's Corner | Head Coach David Muchnick: "Before every match, we talk as a program that we want the best played match of the season to be the one immediately ahead of us. That is what today was, in spades. We are proud of our consistent performance today, and now onto making our next match our best when we take on Ramapo on Wednesday before we resume CUNYAC play with Hunter on Saturday." 
 
John Jay will travel to Mahwah, NJ to take on Ramapo on Wednesday, October 11.
