The Bloodhounds opened the scoring with a triple from Hammond before the Hawks closed out the opening quarter on an 11-2 run to lead 11-5. Both teams struggled from the field, shooting a combined 6 of 35 from the field and 3 of 13 from three-point range in the opening ten minutes.

Hartwick commenced the second quarter on an 11-0 run over the first 2:45 of the stanza, building a 22-5 lead after Macy Durkin converted on the layup. Kelly silenced the run with a jumper in the paint at the 5:13 mark. The Hawks finished the quarter outscoring the Bloodhounds, 10-4, with Sareena DiCerbo putting in a right-handed layup just as the buzzer sounded as Hartwick took a 32-11 lead into the break.

The Bloodhounds began to find their rhythm in the third quarter, staging a 14-6 run of their own over a six-minute span that saw John Jay down 38-25 following a corner trifecta from Hammond off the feed from Kelly. Yadira Smith stopped the run with a three of her own as Hartwick responded by outscoring John Jay, 12-5, over the final three minutes to take a 50-30 lead to the fourth quarter.

Bogle kicked started the fourth quarter comeback for the Bloodhounds with back-to-back baskets, igniting what turned out to be a 23-12 run over the remaining quarter as the Bloodhounds got to within nine, 62-53, as the visitors held on for the victory.
