New Paltz, NY - The John Jay men's basketball team faltered in its trip to the Hudson Valley on Tuesday night, as the Bloodhounds dropped a non-conference contest to the New Paltz Hawks.
Despite the result, junior guard
Jordan Evelyn record his third double-digit scoring performance of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bloodhounds took the early advantage as Evelyn and
Isaac Holmes combined to give the visitors a 9-5 lead in the opening minutes. John Jay was 4-5 from the field to open the contest on Tuesday night.
After trading basking into the 14-minute mark in the first half,
Garrison Watkins fed
Jamir Stewart beyond the arc to pull John Jay within one, 14-15.
The home squad asserted itself down the stretch in the first half as New Paltz headed to the locker room with a 27-50 lead after the first half.
Evelyn clinched the first field goal of the second half but New Paltz continued its progression on offense out of the locker room.
The Bloodhounds scored six straight in the final three minutes of the second half, but the late push was not enough.
Jordan Evelyn logged his third 10+ point performance, finishing with 12 points and four assists.
Omar Calderon closed the game with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
NEXT UP: The Bloodhounds continue the road trip with a visit to Purchase on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Tip-off against the Panthers is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
