Men's Basketball Falls To Baruch, 81-56, In Regular Season Finale Tuesday

New York, NY - The John Jay men's basketball team dropped its regular-season finale on the road at Baruch, 81-56, on Tuesday evening. 
 
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 6-19 and 5-9 in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play while the Bearcats move to 20-5 overall and 12-2 in league play. 
 
John Jay will be the No. 6 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Tournament and will play the No. 3 seed, CCNY on Feb. 18. 
 
Garrison Watkins was the lone Bloodhound to score in double-figures, as the Staten Island native tallied 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting while grabbing six rebounds and swiping three steals in 27 minutes of play. 
 
Four Bearcats reached double-digits, led by Gerard Nicholson, who scored 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting, which included a 3 of 4 marksmanship in 19 minutes. 
 
Sean Donnellan added 13 points on a perfect 4 of 4 shooting display in 17 minutes of action. Jehmehl Fair and Michael Gannon each netted 11 points on a combined 8 of 16 shooting from the floor. 
 
The visitors faced an early deficit, 5-1, before John Jay trimmed the deficit to three, 8-5, following a Watkins layup. 
 
Over the next ten minutes, Baruch outscored the Bloodhounds, 22-12, in building a 30-17 advantage, as the Bearcats shot 50.0 percent from the field and limited the Bloodhounds to just 4 of 13. 
 
John Jay continued to mount their comeback attempt, closing out the half outscoring Baruch, 10-7, but the Bearcats held an 11-point lead heading into the break. 
 
When play resumed for the second half, it was all Baruch, as the home team used a 17-11 run that saw the lead swell to 55-38 following Gannon hitting on a three-point play. 
 
Over the final 13 minutes, Baruch outscored John Jay, 26-18, with Donnellan scoring seven of the 26 points. 
 
The Bloodhounds were limited to 35.5 percent shooting from the field while Baruch shot at a 48.4 clip and 48.0 percent from three-point range.
