Auburndale, FL – The John Jay Bloodhounds fell to the Moravian University Greyhounds by a 22-1 count in seven innings on Sunday morning.
Michael Mauro,
Michael Manzoeillo,
Ethan Simaan,
Ryan Kilcarr, and
John Spallin each recorded a hit on Sunday.
Saul Zoquier drove in the lone RBI for the visitors.
The Greyhounds were paced Connor Wengryn, who went 4 for 4 with 4 RBIs and was one of three Moravian batters to score three runs in the contest. David Olsakowski joined Wengryn with RBIs.
Moravian scored four times in the opening frame and followed that up with a 10-run outburst in the second, powered by a two-run home run from Chris Pow and a grand-slam from Olsakowski.
The Bloodhounds scored in the top of the sixth. Mauro doubled to lead off the frame before advancing to third on a
Ryan Kilcarr single. Zoquier pinch-hit for Spallin and flew out to center as Mauro tagged up and scored.
The Greyhounds tacked on a trio of runs in the bottom of the inning to close out the game.
John Jay returns to the diamond on Tuesday, February 28 as they will square off against Houghton University back in Davenport, FL at the Northeast Regional Park (Field 3).
First-pitch is set for 10:30 AM.
