Michalski's Three-Hit Morning Not Enough As Baseball Falls To Houghton On Tuesday

Davenport, FL - The John Jay baseball team rallied to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth but a ten-run top of the seventh by Houghton positioned the Highlanders to hold on to a 12-4 victory.

Three Bloodhounds (0-3) had multi-hit days led by David Michalski, who went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Michael Mauro and Michael Manzoeillo each had two hits with Manzoeillo driving in two of the four runs for John Jay.

Sean Jost toed the rubber in his first start of the season, tossing six innings of one-run ball, as he allowed six hits while walking one and striking out two. Michael Luongo was tagged with the loss, giving up six runs (five earned) on four hits.

Jost cruised into the six, allowing just a single by Boprey and stranded him at first after getting the next batter to fly out to center and pop out to first, respectively.

The Bloodhounds threatened in the bottom of the frame, as Ryan Kilcarr sent a one-out single to center and moved to second on a wild pitch by Gibson but was caught stealing third for the second out.

Anthony Agosta drew a walk before moving up on a passed ball. Thomas Salerno drew a walk, giving the Bloodhounds a pair of runners but they were left on base as Brennan flew out to left to conclude the inning.

Houghton erupted for ten runs on nine hits in the top of the seventh in taking an 11-1 lead with Morales contributing to one of the biggest hits in the frame, a two-run double to left. Four straight hits by Houghton added to four more runs as Mann capped the rally with a RBI double to left.
