Baseball Blanked At St. Joseph's University - Long Island On Tuesday Afternoon

Patchogue, NY - The John Jay baseball team dropped its midweek non-conference road game at St. Joseph's University - Long Island on Tuesday afternoon at Gregg Alfano Field, 10-0.

With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-30 on the season while the Golden Eagles move to 20-3.

Michael Manzoeillo, David Michalski, Joseph Salerno and Thomas Salerno each recorded a hit on the afternoon for the visiting Bloodhounds.

Marc Week (1-10) went three innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out one. Preston Reitz worked two scoreless frames, giving up a hit while striking out two batters in the six and seventh innings.

Michael Lonergan and Michael Luongo also pitched scoreless frames, as the trio allowed just three hits, had two strikeouts and a walk.

Jake Giannico and Chris Lettiere each notched two hits for the Golden Eagles with Giannico driving in four RBIs on the afternoon. Peter Manger earned the win as St. Joseph's used eight pitchers on the day, with Nicholas Dellitalia worked two innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.

Following a scoreless first inning, Lettiere drove in the game's first run on a double to right center. The Golden Eagles added three more runs in their half of the third, as James Maggio singled to center and moved to third on the fielding error by the Bloodhounds' centerfielder, which brought in a pair.

Anselmo Joya add to the home team's lead, sending a RBI grounder to Saul Zoquier over at first, as Maggio crossed the plate.

St. Joseph's opened up the scoring the fourth, bringing in six runs. Lettiere led off with a double to right field before Mike DiFilippo reached on a fielder's choice.

A bases loaded walk to Joe Hackal made it 5-0, ending Christopher LaFrancesca's afternoon. Sean Jost came on in relief, as Paul Gugliuzzo reached on a fielder's choice to short that brough in DiFillippo making it 6-0.

A walk to Joya loaded the bases for Giannico, who uncorked a high-fly that sailed over the right field wall, as St. Joseph's sealed the victory on that grand slam.

The Bloodhounds are back on the road this Thursday, as they will travel to Newburgh, NY to tangle with Mount Saint Mary College at 4:00 p.m.
