No. 5 Seed Men's Tennis Edges No. 4 Seed Lehman, 5-4, To Advance To CUNYAC Semifinals

Bronx, NY - The No. 5 seed John Jay men's tennis team edged the No. 4 seed, Lehman College Lightning, 5-4, on Thursday in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Quarterfinals. 
 

 
The Bloodhounds advance to Semifinal Sunday, as they will face the No. 2 seed, Baruch, at 2:30 pm at the Alley Pond Indoor Tennis Center in Queens, NY.
 
Lehman jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking No. 3 doubles, 8-3. The pairing of Samir Ghimire and Rezwanul Haque earned an 8-1 triumph over Richie Magaribi and Jaden Youngs at No. 2. 
 
Hamad Alobeidlli and Johann Stoll outlasted the pairing of Christian Agudo and Kenneth Davis, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles as the Bloodhounds claimed a 2-1 advantage in the overall match. 
 
Ghimire defeated Davis at No. 2 singles, 6-2; 6-1 before Alobeidlli earned a 6-2; 6-2 win over Agudo to give the Bloodhounds a 4-1 lead. 
 
Chris Mata bested Terrell Rowe, 8-5, while Stoll dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Ray Rodriguez at No. 5 singles, making it a 4-3 advantage. 
 
The Bloodhounds claimed the victory at No. 4 singles, as Haque earned a 6-3; 6-4 winner, sealing the match with an ace. 
 
Qudus Kolapo rallied back in his match at No. 3 singles. After falling 7-6 (7-4), he took the second set, 6-2, before Magaribi earned a 7-4 win in the third set.
