Purchase, NY – The John Jay women's tennis team fell in their season opener on the road at Manhattanville, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.
It was the first dual match of the season for both squads.
In doubles, the Bloodhound tandem of
Sarina Moi and
Gloria Glenn fought valiantly in No. 1 doubles against Bea Pretnar and Keto Karkashadze, but the Manhattanville pair were able to outlast them, 8-4.
Manhattanville came away with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. In No. 3 doubles, newcomers
Riya Shah and
Danny Canning kept the match within reach before their counterparts, Elizabeth Dolce and Sara King secured an 8-3 victory.
The Valiants took all six singles points, conceding just seven points over the six matches.
John Jay returns to the courts on Thursday, September 14, as they will travel to Bronxville, NY to tangle with Sarah Lawrence.
The first serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
