Men's Soccer Falls On The Road At Bryn Athyn On Friday Evening

Bryn Athyn, PA - The John Jay men's soccer team dropped its non-conference road tilt at Bryn Athyn, 4-1. 
 
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-4 on the season while the Lions move to 1-3-1. 
 
Both teams played to a virtual stalemate in the first half. The Lions had a chance moments into the match as Joey O'Neill sent a shot that stopped by Tyler Solis
 
In the 12', tri-captain Kevin Luciano sent a low-liner that was turned aside by Troy Billingslea. The visitors nearly broke the tie in the 39' as Brayan Alvarez sent a chance that hit the top of the post. 
 
The game remained scoreless until the 41st minute. John Jay was called for a foul that led to a penalty kick opportunity for Bryn Athyn. Nathan Scavo stepped up and put one past the outstretched reach of Tyler Solis as the Lions went up 1-0. 
 
When play resumed for the second half, Bryn Athyn wasted little time in capitalizing on their chance, as Scavo recorded his second tally of the contest. Sean Scalen crossed the ball into the box from the corner that found Scavo. who buried the chance, for his second goal of the evening. 
 
The Bloodhounds had a pair of chances in the 67' as Michael Akinlotan bootted the ball on target but Billingslea was there to make the saves, keeping John Jay off the board. 
 
With five minute left in the match, O'Neill found his chance and got his first goal of the season, upping the Lions lead to 3-0. 
 
John Jay continued to battle and was rewarded in the 87' as Daniel Rosa's chance was denied by Billingslea, but, Mario Parano was able to locate the loose ball and blast one on target for his first collegiate goal, cutting the deficit to two, 3-1. 
 
On the ensuing Lions possession, Mike Carmody halted the Bloodhounds' comeback attempt, netting the fourth goal of the match for the Lions. 
 
John Jay was outshot 15-8 overall in the match, but the Bloodhounds kept pace with the Lions as Bryn Athyn held a slim one shot on goal advantage (8-7). 
 
Solis was credited with four saves on the evening while his counterpart Billingslea made six stops. 
 
John Jay closes out their non-conference portion of their schedule on Monday, September 25, as they will travel to Danbury, CT to tangle with Western Connecticut State. 
 
Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
