Women's Soccer Falls To NYU In Non-Conference Action On Wednesday Evening

Newark, NJ - The John Jay women's soccer team dropped their most recent non-conference tilt to New York University (NYU) on Wednesday evening, 14-1, at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).

With the setback, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-4 overall on the season while the Violets, who were ranked #26 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Top-25 NCAA Division III poll, move to 7-0 on the season.

The Violets netted seven goals in each half of play, taking a total of 38 shots, 28 of those went on goal.

The Bloodhounds lone tally of the match came in the 79' minute off the foot of Lucia Giangaspero, her first of the season and third of her John Jay career.

John Jay goalkeeper Lily Velo recorded her second-straight double-digit save total, as the Frisco, TX native made 13 saves on the evening.

The Bloodhounds close out their non-conference portion of their schedule on Saturday, September 30, as they play host to Centenary (NJ) at Queens College.

Kickoff is slated for noon.
