West Point, NY – The John Jay rifle team split their disciplines against Norwich while also competing against host Army West Point on Saturday at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.
Army West Point outshot both Norwich and John Jay, finishing with an aggregate 4667. Norwich was next at 4361 and the Bloodhounds tallied 4295. The Bloodhounds finished second in air rifle with a score of 2231 as both John Jay and Norwich tied with 112 centers.
Danny Canning was among the top individuals, scoring 563 in smallbore (one point off her personal-best) and 571 in air rifle for a 1134 aggregate 1134 to go along with 43 centers to place tenth overall.
Sixmeiry Jimenez Ortiz fired off a 505, hitting eight centers to placed 16
th overall in small bore. Other notable performances in small bore came from
Rochelle Redwood, who placed 17
th overall with a score of 500, hitting four centers.
Kaitlyn Ayers (496 | 7 centers), JB Zhao (479 | 4 centers),
Bryan Gomez (472 | 3 centers) and
Natalia Alegarbes (470 | 6 centers) rounded out the finishes for the Bloodhounds.
In air rifle, Canning and Alegarbes were among the top-ten finishers as Alegarbes set a personal-best 570 while hitting 24 centers.
Ayers notched 549 hitting the center 18 times to place 14
th. Rounding out the finishes were Redwood, who fired a 541 (8 centers), Jimenez Ortiz with a 540 (11 centers), Gomez, who finished at 534 (10 centers) and Zhao with a 530 (11 centers).
The Bloodhounds will head to Akron, OH on Saturday, October 19 as they will square off against the University of Akron Zips.
