Rifle Splits Sunday's Contest Against No. 1 Ranked West Virginia And Maritime

West Point, NY - The John Jay rifle team split their weekend competition this past Sunday, competing against the No. 1 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers and against Maritime in air rifle.
 
The Bloodhounds fell to the Mountaineers, 4736-4229, while picking up a 2184-1856 victory over the Privateers.

Danny Canning, Kaitlyn Ayers, and Rochelle Redwood were the top three shooters against the Mountaineers. Canning fired off a 550, hitting 12 centers to finish eighth. Ayers was next at 525 (7 centers), while Redwood shot 487 (6 centers). The smallbore finishes for John Jay included Bryan Gomez (483 | 6 centers) and JB Zhao (480| 4 centers).
 
In air rifle, Canning placed ninth with a 558 (16 centers), while Ayers finished in the top ten at 555 (21 centers). Zhao shot 536 (15 centers) while Redwood 535 (11 centers) and Gomez (527 | 6 centers).
 
The Bloodhounds will head to Northfield, VT, to tangle with Norwich on November 16 and MIT on November 17.
