Rifle Claims Big Apple Classic Win Over Maritime On Senior Day

New York, NY - The John Jay rifle team hosted the Maritime Privateers on Saturday in the Big Apple Classic on Senior Day at the John Jay Rifle Range. In total, 23 shooters combined from both teams for the air rifle match, in which the Bloodhounds came out victorious, 2219-2011.

Between the two relays, the Bloodhounds recognized their three senior shooters - Natalia Alegarbes, Sixmeiry Jimenez Ortiz, and Rochelle Redwood.

Danny Canning led the way at 570, which included a perfect round in ST 4 (100 - 10 centers) while connecting 28 centers. Maria Belov was next at 557, hitting 21 centers. Alegarbes was the third highest-shooter at 547 (13 centers). Kaitlyn Ayers (545 - 16 centers) and Ortiz (542 - 14) rounded out the top five for John Jay.

The Bloodhounds got several personal bests from their newcomers, led by Marian Kopram's 518 (8 centers). Elanie Yue finished at 509 (9 centers), and Noella Gonzalez rounded out the newcomer's scores with 504.

John Jay will head up to Cos Cob Range in Greenwich, CT, where they compete against Maritime and the University of Rhode Island.
