Men's Tennis Falls In 2024 Opener To Yeshiva On Monday Afternoon

Bronx, NY - The John Jay men's tennis team dropped their season opener against Yeshiva on Monday afternoon, falling 7-2. 
 
The Bloodhounds earned a win at No. 2 doubles, as the pairing of AJ Esperanza and Samir Ghimire earned an 8-5 triumph over Ronen Rozenman and Elan Goldstein. 
 
The pairing of Nikita Sadounichy and Deondre McKenzie put forth a valiant effort at No. 1 doubles, falling 8-7 (10-8) to David Cattan and Israel Bussu. 
 
Newcomer Nikita Sadounichy earned his first win as a Bloodhound, besting David Cattan, 6-1; 6-0 at No. 1 singles. 
 
Sadounichy earned his first singles win as a member of the Bloodhounds, picking up a 6-1; 6-0 triumph over his counterpart, Cattan, at No. 1 singles. 
 
Ghimire kept pace with Rozeman at No. 3 singles, falling 6-4; 6-3. 
 
John Jay only picked up three combined points over singles 2, 4, 5, and 6. 
 
The Bloodhounds will have a quick turnaround as they will be back in action on Tuesday, March 19, as they will host Sarah Lawrence from the USTA National Tennis Center. 
 
First-serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
