Men's Volleyball Continues Winning Ways In Home Triumph Over Medgar Evers

New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team extended their winning streak to four straight after blanking the Medgar Evers College Cougars, 3-0, (25-11; 25-14; 25-19) on Tuesday evening from The Doghouse. 
 
The Bloodhounds run their record to 14-5 on the season while improving to 7-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) while the visiting Cougars remain in search of their first win of the year and first conference victory (0-10; 0-9 CUNYAC).
 
Logan Ramos led the way with eight kills and four digs. Jeferson Avila-Macancela and Micah Rossman each tallied five kills, with Avila matching Ramos with a team-leading four digs. Alex Bridgelall finished with 13 assists and a game-high four aces. 
 
Cody Ramsey led Medgar Evers with ten kills and seven digs. 
 
First Set - The Bloodhounds commenced the first set on a 10-2 run following an attack error by Ramsey. With Evan Wandersee holding serve, John Jay continued to add to their total, pushing the lead to 17-5 following a kill from Bridgelall on the blocking error from Patrick Mateo. The Bloodhounds closed out the first scoring eight of the final 13 points in taking the first set, 25-11. John Jay hit .263 in the opening set while only committing two attack errors. 
 
Second Set - John Jay jumped out to a 9-4 lead before Medgar chipped into the deficit, trailing 14-9 following a service error. The Bloodhounds regrouped, closing the set on an 11-4 run as Bridgelall emphatically recorded the kill, putting John Jay 2-0 in the match
 
Third Set - In the final set, the Bloodhounds held a 3-0 lead before the two teams exchanged points, with the visitors narrowing the gap to 8-6. John Jay went ahead by four, 15-11, following a kill from Maxwell Law. This set the stage for the Bloodhounds to close out the match on a 10-7 run. In the set, John Jay hit .320 with 13 kills. 
 
John Jay will be back in action on Thursday evening, March 21, as they will take on Baruch College at 6:00 p.m.
