Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten In Conference Play; Defeats York On Tuesday Afternoon

Jamaica, NY - The John Jay men's tennis earned their second consecutive victory in remaining unbeaten in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, defeating the York College Cardinals, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The Bloodhounds move to 2-3 on the season and 2-0 in league play while the Cardinals fall to 0-3 and 0-2 in the circuit. 

John Jay swept the doubles matches as the pairing of Nikita Sadounichy and Deondre McKenzie defeated Sangay Yoezer and Altenor Molien, 8-2, at No. 1. For Sadounichy/McKenzie, it marked their third win in doubles play. 

Samir Ghimire and AJ Esperanza bested Abubakar Khamis and Firdaus Abdulai, 8-2, at No. 2. Ghimire and Esperanza move to 4-1 at No. 2 play this season. Massimo Leandri and Nathaniel Barnaby blanked Emperatriz Cesar and Julia Wyman, 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. 

Sadounichy improved to 5-0 with his second consecutive straight-set victory and third overall, besting Yoezer, 6-0; 6-0, at No. 1 singles. McKenzie defeated Molien, 6-1; 6-1, at No. 2. Ghimire outlasted Khamis, 6-0; 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Esperanza blanked Abdulai, 6-0; 6-0 at No. 4 while Leandri also claimed a straight-set triumph over Cesar, 6-0; 6-0. 

York's Bisola Babnumi edged out Barnaby at No. 6 singles, 2-6; 7-6; 1-0 (10-6). 
 
The Bloodhounds will look for their third straight win on Thursday, April 11, as they will square off against Pratt at the USTA National Tennis Center at 6:45.
