2024 John Jay Women's Volleyball Preview

New York, NY - The 2024 John Jay women's volleyball team, under the direction of third-year head coach Austin Voges, will look to capitalize on their momentum from a season ago as they open up a new season on Friday in Jersey City against NJCU and Mount Saint Vincent.

Prior to Friday's lidlifter, Joey Jarzynka caught up with Coach Voges to discuss the upcoming season. 



AROUND THE NET...
  • John Jay returns 11 players from last season's team that reached the CUNYAC Championship match, which includes the 2023 CUNYAC Player of the Year, Josanne Lewis, and CUNYAC Rookie of the Year, Hailey Waugaman.  
  • The Bloodhounds brought in four newcomers - junior Nina Bongiovanni along with freshmen Alex Overcamp, Theresa Schmitt, and Julia Stuart.
  • The 19 wins last season tied for the second most in program history, matching the mark set by the 2017 squad under Leszek Stankiewicz (19-13) 
    • The all-time record for wins in a season is 22, set back in 1997 under Sonia Gaiarza, as the Bloodhounds went 22-9 that year.

  • John Jay and NJCU will be meeting for the 26th time in program history, with NJCU holding a 21-4 overall record.
    • The Bloodhounds have won three of the last four meetings against the Gothic Knights, including a 3-1 home triumph back on October 19 at the Doghouse. 
  • John Jay and the University of Mount Saint Vincent have met 23 times with the Dolphins holding a slim 13-10 edge in the head-to-head series. 
    • The Bloodhounds have won two straight against UMSV, including a 3-2 triumph last season.
