New York, NY - Under a high noon Gotham sky on Randalls Island, the John Jay women's soccer team returned to action for a Saturday afternoon matinee.
The Bloodhounds welcomed Kean to Field 75 for the first time since 2017 to close out the week, looking to settle into their non-conference schedule.
Kean came out on top of a sweltering contest under the shadow of the Triboro Bridge, 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
32' - Kean's Courtney Irwin took possession down the right wing in the Wildcat's attacking third in the late stages of the first half, charging across looking to for an opening on net. Just outside the Bloodhounds' 18-yard box, Irwin connected with a shot that was just above the reach of John Jay keeper Gianna Duarte for the opening goal.
46' - The Wildcats seized the momentum of the second half in the opening minutes, as Carly Gleason played the rebound of her first shot of the final 45 minutes and finished on her second attempt. The goal doubled Kean's lead.
48' - The Kean eleven worked quick off an unsuccessful Bloodhound corner. Kaydence Oakley worked herself open down the right wing, floating a cross into the box to the raised, awaiting right foot of Irwin. She made it a second goal on a curling shot into the left side of the net and improved her side's lead to 3-0.
60' - Gleason scored her second tally just over ten minutes later. Oakley was aggressive again on the far wing, playing a cross tight on the Bloodhound net. This time, Gleason seized the bouncing ball and tucked it over Duarte to finalize the Wildcat tally for the day.
Duarte finished the match with seven saves. Olivia Boucher led all Bloodhounds with two shots on goal.
NEXT UP: John Jay returns to the friendly confines of Randalls Island on Wednesday, Sept. 18, hosting Cedar Crest as part of a men's/women's soccer doubleheader for John Jay. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
