Women's Soccer Falls To No. 19 NYU

Newark, NJ - The John Jay women's soccer team traveled across Hudson River to Newark, NJ where they were pitted against the No. 19 ranked NYU Violets. 

The Bloodhounds netted a goal in the 25' minute to cut the Violets lead in half but NYU, 2-1. NYU responded with three more scores to conclude the opening and finished with an 8-1 triumph on Thursday evening from Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium, the home of the NJIT Highlanders.

John Jay falls to 1-5-1 while NYU remains undefeated, moving to 6-0-3.The lone goal for the Bloodhounds came in that 25' with the visitors trailing 2-0. Mikayla Schoch booted a shot to the left before the corralled to the foot of Emma Fisher. Fisher spotted Olivia Boucher who finished the chance.

In the 33' the Violets pushed their lead up to 3-1 on a goal from Alexa Buxbaum before two minutes later Isa Badillo found the back of the net. Marlee Scanlon added NYU's third goal just before halftime.

The home team tacked on three more scores, holding John Jay without a chance in the second half.

In addition to Boucher's goal, John Jay's shot attempts came from Schoch, and Lucia Giangaspero (1). Gianna Duarte made ten saves on the night while Cailyn MacLellan played the final 4:38.

The Bloodhounds close out the week on the road at Centenary University. Kickoff from Hackettstown, NJ is slated for 3:00 p.m.
