Potsdam, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team left Upstate New York with a split,of their two match trip as the Bloodhounds dropped a 3-1 decision on Saturday afternoon to the SUNY Potsdam Bears. John Jay picked up their first win of the season on Friday, 1-0, over SUNY Canton
John Jay falls to 1-2 on the season while SUNY Potsdam improves to 2-1-1.
The Bloodhounds were held to just three shots on the afternoon, with their lone shot on target coming in the 18' as
Daniel Rosa tallied his team-leading third goal of the season on the assist from
Damian Coronel.
Charlie Metz, Rosa, and
Karl Menuau each record a shot attempt for the visitors.
Tyler Solis made four saves off the seven shots on goal he saw.
The Bears rallied after being down, knotting the score at 1-1 nine minutes into the second half as Jake Trubia pushed one past Solis off the feed from Leo Hector and Zach Cunningham. SUNY Potsdam wasn't finished. Five minutes later, Cunningham could spot Luke Tytler for the go-ahead goal.
Thomas Wendel added an insurance goal in the 77' minute. Hector nearly headed in SUNY Potsdam's fourth goal but Solis was there for the stop to end the match.
The Bloodhounds will have a few days to prepare for their home opener, slated for September 16 at Randall's Island - Field 74 as John Jay will take on Delaware Valley University at 4:00 p.m.
