Men's Soccer Moves Back To .500 In League Play With Shutout Road Triumph At York, 2-0, On Wednesday

Jamaica, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 road victory at York on Wednesday. The Bloodhounds (3-10-1; 2-2-1 CUNYAC) delivered goals in both halves to seal the win, while the Cardinals fell to 3-5-3; 2-2-1 CUNYAC.

The Bloodhounds nearly got on the board within the first twenty seconds of the match as Josh Clemas sent a low-lining shot that George Molina turned aside.

On York's first chance, Derick Aboagye-Frimpong sent the first of two chances against Davio Rossilevin. Twenty-five seconds later, Odane Purcell tested Rossilevin and was unsuccessful.

The Bloodhounds continued to work for the first score and nearly were rewarded in the 29' as Molina stopped Clemas' penalty kick. In the 38th, Sekou Sherriff gave the visitors the lead after receiving the through pass from Eden Chaftzadi and Jason Ayala.

Aboagye-Frimpong tried to tie the match at 1-1 just before the intermission but was denied by Rossilevin.

Two minutes into the second half, Charlie Metz sent a shot three minutes into the second half. In the 68', Chaftzadi connected on a long-range strike after being set up with a pass from Daniel Mansur.
John Jay controlled the tempo for the remainder of the contest in picking up the victory.

The Bloodhounds recorded 28 shots on the night and held a 15-7 edge on shots on target.
Rossilevin made seven stops while his counterpart, Molina, stopped 13 shots while yielding the two goals.

John Jay returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 18, as they travel to CCNY for a 10:30 a.m. kickoff.
