New York, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team scored three times after halftime to defeat CCNY, 3-0. The Bloodhounds improve to 4-10-1 overall and 3-2-1 in league play, while the Beavers falter to 1-9-4 and 1-3-2 in conference fixtures.
CCNY tested the Bloodhounds in the early portion of the contest as Milton Pingarron and Cristian Arellano sent attempts, but were off target.
John Jay's
Alejandro De Jesus sent two chances, the second of which found the waiting arms of CCNY's Rudy Guttierrez.
The Bloodhounds continued the attack as
Josh Clemas sent two attempts, but Guttierrez was there for the stop in the 25' and 28'.
Sekou Sheriff added a chance in the 30' as both teams headed into the break knotted at 0-0.
When play resumed, Carlos Ortiz sent a chance that
Davio Rossilevin turned aside. Arellano, in the 58
' booted an attempt that Rossilevin corralled.
A penalty was assessed to CCNY inside the box.
Sheriff broke the deadlock in the 59' with a penalty kick for his third goal of the season, giving John Jay a 1-0 lead.
Nine minutes later,
Ian Hartigan doubled the lead, finishing a sequence set up by Clemas and
Eden Chaftzadi for Hartigan's second career goal.
Joshua Henao-Moreno capped the scoring in the 87', converting after combinations from
Andrew Provenzano and Sheriff.
Rossilevin made four saves for the clean sheet, his third of the season and seventh of his career. Guttierrez made five stops for the Beavers.
The Bloodhounds will close out the regular season
on Wednesday, October 22 as they host Medgar Evers on Randall's Island - Field 74 at 4:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
