Strong Doubles Effort Propels Bloodhounds To 5-2 Road Win At York

Jamaica, NY - The John Jay women's tennis team earned a 5-2 road win over York College on Friday afternoon at the York College Courts. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-7 and 2-3 in CUNYAC play while the Cardinals fall to 0-8 and 0-5 in league matches.
 



John Jay jumped ahead early by sweeping the doubles point. The duo of Thawann Ogle and Muy Sim Wong outlasted Gabriela Prirondi and Julia Wyman, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 1 doubles. Manuela Orrego and Flor Caro posted a 6-3 triumph over Franeidy Mauriciio and Melanie Guerrero at No. 2 doubles. Briana Bichinque and Anna Rosario won by default at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, the Bloodhounds secured four of the six flights to clinch the match. Ogle cruised to a 6-1; 6-1 victory at No. 1, followed by Orrego's 6-4; 6-4 win at No. 3. Bichinque rolled 6-1; 6-1 at No. 5, and Rosario earned another point by default.

Prirondi and Guerrero each picked up singles victories at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.

The Bloodhounds gear up for Senior Day on Friday, October 24, as they will take on Lehman in a match that was rescheduled from October 14. John Jay will serve as the host team at the Lehman Courts with first serve beginning at 11:00 a.m.
