New York, NY - The defending CUNYAC women's volleyball champions, the John Jay College Bloodhounds, swept the No. 4 seed Hunter College, 3-0, to advance to Friday's title match and defend their league championship.

The Bloodhounds will face off against No. 3 seed Brooklyn, who needed five sets to fend off No. 2 seed Baruch in the other semifinal contest.

With the win, John Jay moves to 22-6 overall while Hunter concludes its season with a 10-25 overall mark. Additionally, Thursday's victory marked the first time in program history that the Bloodhounds swept the Hawks (regular season or playoffs).

Eight-time CUNYAC Player of the Week and recently minted two-time AVCA Division III National Player of the Week,
Jadyn Orava, finished the match with 15 kills while serving up three aces and recording seven digs.Â
Madison Mullan finished with 13 kills while hitting a blistering .550 for the match. She added three solo blocks and a dig as well.
Lizbeth Martinez finished with a team-leading 11 digs.
Adrienne Xiao produced 35 assists in the victory.

Amina Moummad led the way for the Hawks with 10 kills and seven digs. Michelle Liu finished with seven kills. Madeline Snyder finished with a team-best eight digs and had 23 assists.
In the first set, the Bloodhounds jumped out to a 6-1 advantage, capped by a kill from Orava. Hunter climbed back in the set, trailing 17-15 following an ace from Moummad. Both teams traded points over the final moments of the first set, but Orava elevated for the kill and gave John Jay a 1-0 lead.

The Hawks took a quick 6-5 lead thanks to a kill from Mattison. An 8-5 burst gave the Bloodhounds a 17-15 advantage after Orava recorded two aces and a kill during this run. Hunter got back to within one, 17-16, but the relentless Bloodhounds forced five attack errors, and a kill by Mullan made it 23-16. Set point was established by the top-seed on a kill from
Emilia Cascapera and was capped by a kill from Mullan as John Jay led 2-0.

In the early portion of the third set, the two teams traded points before Mattison posted the kill to tie the match at 6-6. John Jay used a 7-1 run to go ahead 13-7 on back-to-back kills from Cascapera and Mullan. The 2025 regular season championships started to put the finishing touches when Mullan added another kill to increase the Bloodhounds' lead to 23-17. The final swing of the night came from Orava, who emphatically delivered the match-clinching kill to send John Jay back to the CUNYAC finals for the third straight year.

For the match, the Bloodhounds hit .212 for the match while recording 41 kills and producing 39 assists.
