Greenwich, CT - The John Jay rifle team split Sunday's tri-match against the Maritime Privateers and the University of Rhode Island Rams.
The Bloodhounds posted an aggregate score of 4399 to defeat the Privateers (3820) but fell to the Rams (4417).
In smallbore, the Bloodhounds fired 2127, with
Danny Canning leading the way with a third-place showing after firing 551 (11 centers). JB Zhao was next in fifth with a score of 537 (7 centers).
Newcomer
Cassidy Derosia shot a 521 (6 centers) to place sixth, followed by
Bryan Gomez, who tallied a 518 (6 centers). Allan Dan concluded the top-five finishers for John Jay, shooting 514 (5 centers.
URI's Sophia Wood took top honors in smallbore, shooting a 578 (21 centers) followed by teammate Alex Travison in second with a total of 553 (16 centers) while Emily Lopez posted a 550 (14 centers).
In air rifle, Canning posted a second-place finish, tallying a 575 (28 centers), followed by teammate
Maria Belov (566, 26 centers). In comparison, newcomer
Mahek Dalwala matched Belov with a 566 while connecting on 18 centers.
Elaine Yue posted a career-best 565 (21 centers) while JB Zhao finished the five-shooter team. Other notable scorers from the Bloodhounds include
Cassidy Derosia's 544 (13 centers) and
Allana Dan's 543 (17 centers).
The Bloodhounds return to the range on Sunday, January 18, as they will take on Army West Point and Maritime in West Point, NY.
