Natalie Simonds drilled a jumper from the foul line that halted the Lightning run. The Bloodhounds answered back, scoring seven of the following 12 points as Richardson hit a three-pointer off the feed from Edwards as John Jay trailed 12-10 with 4:06 left to go in the first quarter. Muniru connected on a pull-up jumper while Figueroa hit the backend of a two-shot foul as the Lehman lead increased to 15-10 before Lattimore hit a driving layup for the final points of the quarter.

The visitors opened the second quarter with a pair of baskets as Ciara Shillingford muscled her way in the paint for two, extending the lead to 19-14. The Bloodhounds continued to rally back, staging a 12-6 run over the next 5:32, capped by a Simonds layup with 38 seconds left before halftime as John Jay took their first lead, 26-25. With time winding down, Muniru let a floating jumper go that hit the back iron and rattled in as Lehman held a 27-26 edge at halftime. The Bloodhounds outshot Lehman (41.7 percent to 27.8 percent) in the quarter, while both teams converted 33.0 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

When play resumed for the third quarter, Hadja Bah commenced the scoring for the Bloodhound on a pull-up jumper from Lattimore as John Jay went up one, 28-27. Lehman responded with a 7-3 run that gave them a 34-31 advantage, thanks to another three-pointer by Figueroa. Richardson continued to her range from the outside, swishing home a triple from the wing just in front of her team's bench, tying the game at 34.

Richardson's three-pointer served as the catalyst the Bloodhounds needed, as they jumped out to a 19-6 run over the final 7:02, with Edwards hitting her patented step-back, left-handed jumper, as John Jay led 50-40. Throughout the run, the Bloodhounds converted 8 of 14 from the field, with Lattimore netting eight of the 19 points. Lehman mustered just three made field goals in ten chances during the John Jay burst. For the quarter, John Jay shot a blistering 56.3 percent from the field (9 of 16) and held the Lighting to just a 6 of 17 shooting display in the frame.

A Gnoutou layup for Lehman thirty seconds into the fourth quarter brought the visitors to within eight, 50-42 before John Jay answered back with a 10-2 run, capped by another Richardson trifectas as John Jay increased their lead to 60-44. Both teams traded the final 14 points of the game as the Bloodhounds didn't attempt to add to their lead and came away with the 16-point home win to advance to Tuesday's semifinals, the fifth straight time they have under head coach Lynda Day
