The visitors continued to build upon their lead, going ahead 35-29 after four straight makes from the charity stripe from Stewart and Miller. CNU used an 11-3 run, capped by an Isaiah Dozier layup, to regain the lead at 40-38 with 3:39 left before halftime.

The Bloodhounds tied the game at 40 as Evelyn's layup hung around the rim before Adenekan came soaring for the putback dunk. CNU scored eight of the final 12 points in posting a 48-44 lead.

Miller and Evelyn scored 24 of John Jay's first-half points on a combined 5 of 9 from the field and 12 of 16 from the line.
