Bryant & Graham Combined For No-Hitter in Game 1; Iglesias Tosses Two-Hit Shutout As Softball Sweeps York On Monday

Jamaica, NY - The defending CUNYAC softball champions, the John Jay Bloodhounds, put forth a masterful pitching display combined with an offensive torrent as John Jay no-hit the York College Cardinals in game one, winning 21-2 while picking up a 20-0 victory in the second game.

The Bloodhounds move to 18-8 overall and remain undefeated in CUNYAC play at 4-0. The Cardinals fall to 3-18 and 0-6 in league play.

Game 1 | John Jay 21, York 2 (5 innings)

The Bloodhounds erupted for 16 runs in the opening inning, sending 20 batters to the plate in the opening frame on the way to the 21-2 victory.

Natalie Graham went two innings, walking one and striking out five while not allowing a hit. Kendal Bryant earned her first career win after throwing three scoreless innings, not allowing a hit while walking seven and striking out three.
 



Elika Rodrigues and Angelina Schoelles each had two hits and four RBIs in the opening game. Graham had three hits in the contest, while Bryant, Maleea Gallaspy, Jordyn Prince, Natalie Polanco, and Samantha Santana all had two hits.

Samantha Panameno was credited with the lone RBI for the Cardinals, while Tyla Hooks and Mulazia Woods scored York's two runs.

Game 2 | John Jay 20, York 0 (5 innings)

After scoring 16 runs in the opening frame of game one, the Bloodhounds scored 14 runs in the first inning of the game while adding a run in the second, four in the third, and one in the fifth in shutting out the Cardinals, 20-0.  

Bryant, Olivia Paoli, and Kiki Iglesias had three RBIs, with Bryant and Iglesias going 3 for 3 at the plate. Iglesias allowed two hits while striking out four batters in picking up her second win of the year.
Jeana Clemons and Michelle Mancuso had a hit for the Cardinals.

The Bloodhounds sent 18 batters to the plate, tallying 14 runs on nine hits, while the Cardinals committed seven errors in the frame.

John Jay will get set to square off against Hunter on April 23 as they welcome the Hawks to Bahoshy Softball Complex on the campus of Fordham University.
