Softball Remains Unbeaten In CUNYAC Play With Sweep Of Hunter

Bronx, NY - The John Jay softball remained undefeated in CUNYAC play, defeating Hunter, 8-0 in game one in six innings and 13-5 in game two over five frames.

The Bloodhounds move to 20-8 overall and 6-0 in league play while the Hawks move to 11-23 and 3-3.

Natalie Graham tossed her 12th complete game of the season, moving to 9-4 on the year after tossing six scoreless innings and yielding five hits.

Elika Rodrigues and Olivia Paoli had three hits with Paoli and Kendal Bryant each driving in two RBIs.
Five different Hawks had a hit. Grace Basil took the loss after allowing eight runs on ten hits.

Following a scoreless first inning, the Bloodhounds tallied the game's first runs as Paoli clubbed a two-run home run to center.

In the bottom of the third, Maleea Gallaspy singled to right before Rodrigues reached on an infield single to third. A successful double steal as Rodrigues moved to second and promptly advanced to third while Gallaspy crossed the plate.

Alyssa Cadolino and Graham sent two straight sacrifice flys to the outfield, as the Bloodhounds added two more runs, making it 5-0. Bryant scored on a passed ball as John Jay went up 6-0.

Hunter narrowly got their first run in the top of the fourth as when Thumhart singled to center but Rivera was thrown out at the plate after a strong through from Kelly Fajardo.

The Hawks threatened in the top of the sixth. as the Hawks loaded the bases. Jessica Fowler reached on a fielder's choice as Flores was thrown out at home.

John Jay sealed the win on a two-run home run from Bryant as Sandel and Bryant crossed the plate.

Game 2 | John Jay 13, Hunter 5

John Jay took a 1-0 lead before the Hawks answered back with four runs in the top of the third.

The Bloodhounds responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame before capping the game with six more in the bottom of the fifth as John Jay won 13-5.

Kiki Iglesias earned her second complete game win, moving to 3-0 on the year despite giving up five runs on nine hits.

All nine starters got a hit with Rylea Sandel and Kelly Fajardo each recording three hits. Sandel tallied four RBIs.
