Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak To Four Straight Following Fourth Straight Shutout At Cedar Crest

Allentown, PA - The John Jay women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four straight following a 1-0 road triumph at Cedar Crest on Wednesday evening.

The Bloodhounds move to 4-0 on the season with the win, while the Falcons fall to 0-4.

John Jay pelted nine shots in the opening to Cedar Crest's one attempt as the Falcons' keeper, Bella Bozen, made five stops in the opening 45 minutes in keeping the match knotted at 0-0.

The visitors threatened to take the lead for the first time in the match just a minute into the second half when Anna Wehr fired a shot that Bozen turned aside. A few minutes later, CUNYAC Player of the Week Natalie Mack attempted a chance, but Bozen was able to hold her ground for the stop.

Cedar Crest had a chance in the 57' when Amiyah Carroll separated herself from her defender, but her chance sailed high over the goal.

John Jay broke through in the 58th minute as Ava Lopez was the recipient of the feed from Mack, beating Bozen to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 advantage on Lopez's third goal of the season.

The home team went on the attack in the 60th minute, as Laila Stevenson headed the ball on target, but Anina Gut was waiting for the stop.

Carroll had a second chance in the 73rd minute, facing Gut, but Gut was up to the task for the denial.

With just thirty seconds, Carroll took the final shot of the night, but the chance misfired wide left of the goal as the Bloodhounds secured their fourth win of the season.

The Bloodhounds' offense managed 17 shots on the night, with nine of those finding their way on target. Gut earned the victory in her first collegiate start, making two saves on the evening, while Bozen notched eight saves.

The Bloodhounds head to Union, NJ, on Saturday, September 13, to square off against Kean University.

Saturday's contest is the Joe Colodne Memorial game, in honor of the former Kean women's soccer assistant coach who unexpectedly passed away this June. To support Coach Colodne's family, fans are encouraged to donate to the family's GoFundMe Page
