Men's Soccer Relinquishes Late Lead; Falls At Home To Sarah Lawrence, 3-2, On Saturday Afternoon

New York, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team held a 2-1 advantage following the first 45 minutes of the contest, but the visiting Sarah Lawrence Gryphons netted a pair of second-half goals, including what turned out to be the game-winner in the 81st minute, as the Bloodhounds fell 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island.

With today's outcome, John Jay falls to 1-5 on the season while Sarah Lawrence moves to 3-2-1 on the season.

The Bloodhounds struck first with a goal six minutes into the contest as tri-captain Josh Clemas capitalized on a chance after receiving the ball from fellow team captain, John Gahuancela, and Alejandro De Jesus, giving John Jay an early 1-0 lead on Clemas' team-leading sixth goal of the season.

John Jay doubled up their lead as Kristian Hernandez was able to boot one past Elijah Shohat in the 11th minute.

The visitors climbed back in the contest as Leon Bronshvag netted the first of his two goals in the 30th minute. The Bloodhounds took nine shots in the first half, with Shohat making four saves for Sarah Lawrence, while tri-captain Davio Rossilevin made three stops.

The Gryphons wasted little time in getting the tying score as Bronshvag struck again with his fifth goal of the season in the 54th minute. Rossilevin kept the game knotted at 2-2 a minute later as Chase Bolden nearly put Sarah Lawrence ahead.

The Gryphons got the go-ahead marker in the 81st as Henry Seas cashed in on a 1v1 opportunity against Rossilevin. Sarah Lawrence held a 14-13 edge on shots, with both teams taking seven shots on goal. Rossilevin finished with four saves while his counterpart, Shohat, made five stops.

The Bloodhounds are back in action on Monday, September 15, as they will take on New Jersey City University at 3:30 p.m.
