Men's Soccer Edged By Mount Saint Mary, 2-1, On Wednesday Evening

Newburgh, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought road tilt at Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday night, falling to the Knights, 2-1.

The Bloodhounds fall to 1-7 on the season while the Knights improve to 2-2-3.
John Jay recorded 12 shots, six of which were on target, while Mount Saint Mary had nine, three of which were on goal.

Bloodhounds keeper Davio Rossilevin played the full ninety minutes, conceding two goals and making one save. The Knights' Noah Horn also played all 90 minutes, giving up the one goal while making four stops.

John Jay narrowly struck first as Daniel Mansur booted a chance that Horn turned away in the seventh minute.

In the 27th minute, Mount Saint Mary Sam Bevevino converted off the feed from Marco Mazzarelli as the Knights took a 1-0 lead.

In the 41st minute, the Knights threatened for more as J.C. Gutierrez sent a chance, but Rossilevin made the save.

Just before the half, Helmer Herrera sent a chance over the top of the net.

In the early portion of the second half, newcomer Eden Hafzadi delivered a chance that went out towards the top right. A minute later, Hafzadi created a second chance, but this time, the ball sailed left of the goal.

Mount Saint Mary struck again in the 53rd minute, as Cam Welsh pushed one past Rossilevin, finishing the chance setup from TJ Mark as the Knights led by two.

The Bloodhounds were relentless as Hafzadi found some space and sent one on target, but Horn was there for the save in the 56th minute.

Two minutes later, Josh Clemas sent one that was destined for the back of the net, but a Knights defender made the stop.

John Jay did get on the board in the 58th as Haftzadi recorded his first goal as a member of the Bloodhounds off the feed from Mansur. The Bloodhounds nearly tied the fixture at 2-2 as Keon Boyce sent a chance, but Horn was there for the save in the 70th minute.

Five minutes, Brian Cuatainquiz struck an attempt towards the bottom right of the goal as Horn was there for the save. John Jay's final chance came in the 77th minute as Herrera's attempt went left of the net.

The Bloodhounds make a trip to Danbury, CT on Wednesday, September 24 as they will take on WestConn.
