Men’s Basketball Falls To CCNY 85-74 On Wednesday Evening

New York, NY - A three-pointer by Jamir Stewart with time winding down in the first half gave the visiting Bloodhounds a 33-32 lead, but the CCNY Beavers rallied back, utilizing a 27-19 run over the final 7:28 of the contest to post an 85-74 victory over John Jay on Wednesday evening.

Jamir Stewart paced the Bloodhounds offense with 25 points. Keyshawn Miller added 17 points on 8 of 13 shooting while pulling down eight rebounds, dishing out six assists, and adding two steals.
Aidony Nivar chipped in 14 points while Adrian Kopec scored 10 points, adding six rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Four Beavers finished in double-figures, led by Michael Bowman, who netted 24 points on 6 of 9 shooting and hitting on 11 of 12 from the free-throw line.

Abdias Carcamo added 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting while dishing out nine assists and pulling down six rebounds. Justin Morety chipped in 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting while Chris Popotte scored 10 points.

CCNY opened the game on an 8-2 run before John Jay responded, scoring nine of the following 14 points to get to within two, 13-11, following a Miller layup.

The two teams continued to trade baskets when Miller drew John Jay to a single basket, 26-24, at the 3:29 mark of the first half. The Bloodhounds closed out the half on a 9-6 spurt, capped by the Stewart three-pointer as John Jay led 33-32.

Over the first six minutes of the second half, both teams kept pace with one another, as Nivar hit a three-pointer to move ahead 49-47 at the 14:27 mark. CCNY rallied back, staging a 23-12 run to build a nine-point lead, following a Carcamo three-pointer that made it 70-61 with 3:16 left to play. Kopec hit a three-pointer that ended the run, but CCNY closed out the game, scoring 15 of the final 28 points to win by 11, 85-74.

Both teams shot efficiently from the floor and from the outside while CCNY converted from the free-throw line, hitting on 20 of 31, while John Jay was 7 of 13. The Bloodhounds were outmuscled on the board, 48-32.

John Jay will look to rebound on Saturday, as they will host York at The Doghouse for a 3:00 p.m. start.
