Strong Second Hall Helps Propel Men's Basketball Past Hunter, 78-64, On Friday

New York, NY - The John Jay College men's basketball team delivered an efficient and balanced offensive attack on the road Friday night, earning a 78–64 victory over Hunter College in completing the season sweep of the Hawks.
 
The win improves the Bloodhounds' conference record to 4–5 (6–14 overall), while Hunter falls to 2–7 (4–16 overall).

Hunter started the game off strong taking a 13-5 lead to start the game. Back to back made three-pointers by Keyshawn Miller and Jamir Stewart cut the lead to two. The 8-0 run continued until Kristian Nunez scored in the paint to stop the run. Both teams continued to trade baskets. Hunter went on a 10-0 run over the next 5 minutes as Hunter took a 5 point lead into halftime.

Hunter started the 2nd half scoring the first 7 points until Aidony Nivar knocked down 3 of his team-high 21 points, going 8–13 from the floor and an efficient 5–6 from beyond the arc. The
Hawks continued to battle and built their lead up to 15 points at the 16:44 mark when John Jay took a time out. Over the next seven minutes John Jay sunk five three point shots, two from Ronnie McIntyre and three by Jamir Stewart (16 total point and four made three point shots) 

Tied at 52 at the 9:46 mark the Bloodhounds took a 17 point lead, 72-57 and never looked back. Keyshawn Miller stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points and 9 rebounds, providing energy on both ends of the court. Adrian Kopec chipped in with eight 8 points.

John Jay shot 42.6% from the field and knocked down 40% of its three-point attempts , and a season low 3 team turnovers. Defensively, the Bloodhounds limited Hunter to 44.1% shooting and forced 13 turnovers, converting multiple stops into transition opportunities.

The Bloodhounds retun to the Doghouse on Tuesday when they host Baruch.
