Men's Volleyball Drops Conference Tilt At Baruch In Straight Sets

New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to Baruch, 3-0,  (25-17, 27-25, 25-20) on Thursday evening in CUNYAC action at the ARC Arena.
 
John Jay moves to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play following the road setback, while Baruch improves to 5-6 and 2-0 in league competition.

The Bloodhounds finished with 23 kills and a .116 hitting percentage for the match, adding four services aces and three total team blocks. 

Nick Fuentes and Adria Galve paced the attack with seven kills apiece, while Adam Bainey contirbuted six kills. Jimmy Thinlay directed the offense with 17 assists while Micah Rossman recorded a team-high two aces. Maxwell Law led the defensive effort with three digs. 

Baruch totaled 37 kills on an efficient .359 hitting percentage. Benjamin Nirenstein led all players with 12 kills, while setter Ari Osmanaj distributed 30 assists to anchor the Bearcats' offense.
Baruch established control early, hitting .333 in the opening set while limiting the Bloodhounds to a .053 clip en route to a 25-17 first-set victory. The Bearcats capitalized on extended rallies and service pressure to seize early momentum.

The second set proved to be the turning point of the contest. John Jay settled into rhythm offensively, trading points throughout a tightly contested frame that featured multiple late ties. The Bloodhounds fought off set point and showed composure in extended rallies, but Baruch executed down the stretch to claim the stanza, 27-25, and take a commanding 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, John Jay remained within striking distance midway through the frame before the Bearcats used a late run to create separation and close out the match, 25-20.

John Jay returns to the court on Saturday, February 28 as they host a tri-match against CUNYAC members CCNY and King's College (PA).
