Flushing, NY - The John Jay men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Hunter College in CUNYAC play on Saturday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center.
John Jay falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action, while Hunter improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the CUNYAC.
The match opened with doubles play, where the Bloodhounds delivered their strongest performance of the afternoon at the top flight.
The pairing of
Agustin Lopez and
Davio Rossilevin battled to a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles, showcasing strong chemistry and late-game execution to secure John Jay's lone match win of the day.
Hunter, however, controlled the remaining doubles contests. The Hawks earned decisive victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, taking both matches by identical 6-0 scores to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, Hunter maintained momentum across all six courts. Lopez competed at No. 1 singles, dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision in the most competitive singles match of the day.
Rossilevin followed at No. 2, falling 6-2, 6-3, while
Josh Clemas (No. 3),
David Reynoso (No. 4),
Ian Hartigan (No. 5), and
Jared Heusner (No. 6) were each defeated in straight sets.
The Bloodhounds continued conference play as they will return to the courts on Thursday, March 26, when they take on Albertus Magnus in New Haven, CT, at 4:00 p.m.
