New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team delivered one of its most efficient performances of the season on Tuesday night, sweeping York (NY), 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-8), in CUNYAC action at The Doghouse.
With the win, John Jay improves to 14-11 overall and 6-2 in conference play, while York falls to 2-15 and 1-7 in league competition.
Before the start of the match, the Bloodhounds recognized their 2026 senior class on Senior Night -
Steven Ajazi,
Maxwell Law, Attilia Nerette,
Sebastian Rodriguez, and
Micah Rossman.
From the opening serve, the Bloodhounds controlled the tempo, posting a blistering .486 hitting percentage compared to York's .020 mark. John Jay totaled 44 kills on just eight errors, showcasing a balanced and disciplined offensive attack.
John Jay came out firing in the opening frame, hitting an eye-popping .696 with 17 kills and just one error. Behind strong distribution from
Jimmy Thinlay, the Bloodhounds used multiple scoring runs to build a commanding lead.
Micah Rossman and
Brandon Roman fueled the offense during a mid-set surge that extended the advantage into double digits, and John Jay closed the set comfortably at 25-10.
The Bloodhounds continued to dictate play in set two, using aggressive serving to keep York out of system.
Maxwell Law sparked a key run with back-to-back service aces, while
Sebastian Rodriguez and
Nick Fuentes added timely kills. John Jay's depth was on full display, with contributions across the lineup helping secure a 25-15 set win.
John Jay put the match away emphatically in the third, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. The offense remained efficient, hitting .500 in the set, while the defense limited York to just eight points. Late kills from
Attila Nerette and Rossman, along with another service ace from Law, sealed the sweep at 25-8.
Rossman led the Bloodhounds with nine kills and added six digs, while Rodriguez and Fuentes chipped in six kills apiece. Thinlay orchestrated the offense with a match-high 19 assists, and Law contributed 13 assists and a team-best three service aces.
Defensively,
Logan Ramos anchored the back row with nine digs, and the front line was active at the net with blocks from
Steven Ajazi and Thinlay.
For York, Bryan Godette paced the offense with seven kills and six digs, while Brian Kim dished out 12 assists.
John Jay held advantages in kills (44-13), assists (43-13), and digs (25-20), while also applying consistent pressure from the service line with nine aces.
The Bloodhounds close out the 2026 regular season on Saturday, April 4 as they welcome the Ramapo College Roadrunners to The Doghouse.
