John Jay Cruises Past Lehman, 6–1, for First CUNYAC Win

Bronx, NY - The John Jay men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday afternoon, rolling past Lehman, 6–1, in CUNYAC action at the APEX Courts. With the victory, the Bloodhounds improved to 2–6 overall and 1–4 in conference play, while the Lightning dropped to 1–8 (1–5 CUNYAC).

John Jay set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles flights to seize a 3–0 advantage heading into singles play. The top pairing of Samir Ghimire and Agustin Lopez was dominant, blanking Lehman's duo of Gabriela Vargas and Taishawn Brownlee, 6–0. At No. 2 doubles, Davio Rossilevin and Manuela Orrego secured a convincing 6–2 victory, while Ian Hartigan and David Reynoso completed the sweep with a 6–3 win in the third position.

Carrying that momentum into singles, the Bloodhounds wasted little time clinching the match. Ghimire led the charge at No. 1 singles with a strong 6–0, 6–3 victory, while Lopez followed with a 6–2, 6–3 decision at the No. 2 spot. Rossilevin delivered one of the most decisive wins of the afternoon, not dropping a single game in a 6–0, 6–0 triumph at No. 3 singles, helping John Jay secure the overall team victory.

Jayden Gonzalez added to the tally with a hard-fought win at No. 4 singles. After taking the opening set 6–4, Gonzalez battled through a second-set setback (5–7) before prevailing in a tightly contested super tiebreak, 10–6. Hartigan also impressed in singles play, cruising to a 6–1, 6–3 victory at the No. 6 position.

Lehman's lone point came at No. 5 singles, where Aleski Lebron outlasted Orrego in a three-set battle. Orrego took the first set 6–4 before Lebron responded with a 6–2 second set and secured the match in a 10–7 super tiebreak.

The Bloodhounds will travel to Farmingdale State on April 20 for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
