Farmingdale, NY - The John Jay men's tennis team dropped a 7–0 decision to Farmingdale State on Monday evening in non-conference action.
With the result, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-7 overall, while the Rams improve to 9-7 on the season.
Farmingdale State established control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, the tandem of
Samir Ghimire and
Davio Rossilevin battled but fell 6–3 to Luke Plana and Emil Sabovic.
The Rams took the remaining two doubles flights decisively, as
Jayden Gonzalez and
Josh Clemas were defeated 6–0 at No. 2, while
Ian Hartigan and
David Reynoso also dropped a 6–0 decision at No. 3.
In singles play, Farmingdale State continued its momentum, capturing all six matches in pro-set format. Ghimire competed at the top spot for the Bloodhounds but fell 10–1 to Kwaku Agyeman, while Rossilevin suffered a 10–1 loss at No. 2 against Henri Pothier.
At No. 3, Clemas was defeated 10–0 by Danial Zindani, and Gonzalez dropped a 10–0 decision at No. 4 to Jordan Gonzales. Hartigan fell 10–0 at No. 5 against Jake Pepitone, and Reynoso rounded out the match with a 10–1 loss at No. 6 to Grant Larwood.
The Bloodhounds will host York College on Wednesday, April 22 at the York Tennis Courts. It will be Senior Day for John Jay as they will recongize their three seniors prior to the start of the match.
