Flushing, NY - The John Jay men's tennis team dropped a conference matchup to Baruch College, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in CUNYAC play, while the Bearcats improve to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
John Jay dropped all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of
Samir Ghimire and
Agustin Lopez fell to Juan Mendoza and Philipp Roeder, 6-0. The Bearcats extended the lead at No. 2 doubles as
Jayden Gonzalez and
Josh Clemas were defeated by Ryan Huang and Sam Park, 6-0.
In the No. 3 slot,
Manuela Orrego and
Davio Rossilevin battled but ultimately dropped a 6-3 decision to Nathan Oie and Giovanni De Santis, giving Baruch a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
The Bloodhounds registered one point in the six singles contests with Lopez falling at No. 2 singles to Roeder, 6-0; 6-1. The Bearcats secured all five matches in straight sets.
John Jay will continue league play on Friday, April 10 as the Bloodhounds head to New Haven, CT to square off against the Albertus Magnus Falcons at noon.
