Wade Kornegay is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball team, being with Coach Hyland since he took over the program in 2014.
Through his six seasons, Kornegay has held vital roles in all aspects of the program. Entering year seven, his role will consist of overseeing and directing the Bloodhounds opposition scouting. Kornegay has and still plays a role within film breakdown, player development, recruiting, and assisting with the day to day operations.
During the offseasons, Kornegay coaches and attends various elite camps and recruiting showcases in the tri-state area.
Kornegay joins the staff with familiarity to the CUNY conference. After playing at Monroe Community College (Rochester) in the 2008-2009 season, where he helped the team to a district and regional title, as well as a sixth-place finish in the Division II NJCAA tournament, he then headed to Brooklyn College. A standout guard for the Bulldogs, Kornegay was an imperative part of the team that rallied their way to the CUNYAC Semifinals. He graduated from Brooklyn College in 2012 with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science.
Kornegay is currently a Paralegal at the Law Firm of Russo & Toner, LLP. He is preparing to enter the NYC Teaching Collaborative to study and teach in New York City's highest-need schools.
Kornegay was born in Raleigh, North Carolina before moving and growing up in Norwich, New York. Kornegay currently resides in Astoria, Queens.
