MollyAnne Light Head Shot

MollyAnne Light

MollyAnne Light was named the head women's basketball coach at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in July 2014.

From 2011-2014, Light served as the Head Coach of the women's basketball program at Camden County College, where she rebuilt a struggling program in just three seasons. After an eight-year stretch without postseason contention and a roster of only five players, Light led the 2013-2014 Cougars to a 20-7 season and an appearance in the semi-final round of the NCAA Region 19 playoffs.

At Camden County, Light was able to recruit and secure high-level talent without access to scholarship money, and she worked closely with her players to get the most out of everyone on the roster. She also helped secure scholarships for her athletes so that they could continue playing after junior college, with one athlete receiving a scholarship to a Division I school. As a reward for her excellence, Light was elected to coach the Region 19 Sophomore Showcase Game in 2013 and 2014.

As an athlete at Gloucester High School in Gloucester City, NJ, Light scored over 1,000 points and grabbed over 1,000 rebounds. She was named All-South Jersey basketball, All-State Basketball, All-County First Team for field hockey, track, and basketball, and All-Group First Team for field hockey, track, and basketball. Coming out of high school, Light received a full athletic scholarship to play basketball at Division I Fairfield University, where she played for two seasons before transferring to Rutgers University. There she finished out her playing career and was named All-NJAC Conference. She graduated from Rutgers in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in English, and earned a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Wilmington University in 2009.

Light also acted as founder and facilitator of the SJ Knockouts AAU Basketball Club from 2009-2013, along with the Lights Out Basketball Camp from 2007 to the present day. From 2009-2010, she was the Head Coach of the Haddon Heights Girls Junior High School basketball team, and from 2010-2011 she was the Assistant Coach of the Haddon Heights High School Girls Varsity basketball team. She has also worked as a 1-on-1 Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2009.

Light's hiring marks another milestone for the John Jay Athletics Department, as it continues its efforts to progress and improve toward a winning tradition in all sports. As the season approaches and excitement intensifies, the Bloodhounds feel good about what the future has in store.
