Box Score The women's volleyball team lost a close match to the College of New Rochelle, 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 29-31, 15-9) on Wednesday night in New Rochelle. The Bloodhounds fall to 3-17 on the season (1-6 in CUNYAC) and the Blue Angels improve to 16-11.
After losing the first two sets, John Jay fought back to take the third and fourth set to create a fifth and deciding set.
Unfortunately, the Bloodhounds fell in the fifth set, 15-9, to give the Blue Angels their 16th victory of the season.
Senior
Martina Hot led the way with 17 kills, 17 digs, and three service aces. Junior
Katherine Bonilla dished out 38 assists, to go along with 20 digs. Sophomore
Latanya Buckham recorded eight kills and 23 digs. Sophomore
Perla Pozo added 18 digs and junior
Sandy Requeno registered nine kills. Sophomore Bridget Sarco served up three aces.
"I am very proud of how the team came back despite losing the first two sets," head coach
Eder Mathelier said. "This match could have gone either way and fortunately for New Rochelle, they were able to come out on top."
The Bloodhounds return home on Thursday, October 17, for a match against Pratt Institute. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00pm and will be played at the Doghouse.
