Box Score 2 The women's volleyball team lost both of its matches to Montclair State and SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon in Montclair, NJ. As a result, the Bloodhounds fall to 2-14 overall (1-4 in CUNYAC) while the Red Hawks and Panthers improve to 10-6 and 3-9, respectively.
In their match against MSU, sophomore Qendressa Efendija led the team with five kills and senior
Martina Hot chipped in with four kills and three digs. Junior
Katherine Bonilla dished out 13 assists and sophomoreÂ
Latanya Buckham had a team-high two service aces. The Bloodhounds fell to the Red Hawks, 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-7).Â
In their second match of the day against the Panthers, junior
Ashley Diaz had a team-high 11 kills to go along with four assists, seven digs and one service ace. Hot added six kills and six service aces and Bonilla recorded six kills and 20 assists. John Jay had three players register double-digit digs (Hot, Bonilla and Efendija). The Bloodhounds were able to take the third game but ultimately were defeated, 3-1 (25-15, 25-21, 14-25, 26-24).Â
"Today was a tough day for the team," first-year head coach
Eder Mathelier said. "We will continue working hard and get better."
The Bloodhounds have two home matches this week. The first is on Monday, October 7 at 7pm against the College of New Rochelle. The second is on Thursday, October 10 at 7pm against NYU-Poly. Both matches will be played at the Doghouse.
